My Background

Work Experience

I started in the Adelaide Australian Taxation Office (http://ato.gov.au) (ATO) in 1976. I have worked through the tax return assessing areas in the days where paper tax returns were manually checked by real people. From about 1982 to early 1988 I worked in the ATO in the audit area, checking mostly business tax returns for correct compliance with tax law.

For 3 years I was in the Papua New Guinea tax office mostly conducting training in tax compliance work, both in the office and in the field.

From 1991 to 1996, I was a senior ATO auditor working on mostly small to medium size businesses.

I then left the ATO and stared up my own accountancy practice in 1997, East Torrens Taxation Services and then in 2000, a partnership with my wife, Pikusa & Associates, both has been steadily growing since.

I am happy to say that I have one of the few accounting practices which have remained small enough to continue real personal service. My lower overheads translate to savings for my valued clients.

I am a Fellow of the National Tax & Accountants Association (http://www.ntaa.com.au).

Personal

I am very fortunate to be happily married with two adult children. I have also been involved on a personal and voluntary basis as treasurer and auditor with various non profit organizations throughout the years.
